Ytterbium Hydride (YbH2~3)-Powder
Characteristic
Ytterbium hydride is the hydride of ytterbium with the chemical formula YbH2. In this compound, the ytterbium atom has an oxidation state of +2 and the hydrogen atoms have an oxidation state of -1. Its resistivity at room temperature is 107 Ω·cm. Ytterbium hydride has a high thermostability.Ytterbium hydride can be produced by reacting ytterbium with hydrogen gas.It is considered to be a part of the class of rare-earth metal hydrides. Metal hydrides are very attractive and important materials in the multielectron reductant field.

Application
Ytterbium Metal, is being applied in improving the grain refinement, strength, and other mechanical properties of stainless steel and alloys. The 169Yb has been used as a radiation source in portable X-ray machines.169Yb is also used in nuclear medicine. Ytterbium can also be used as a dopant to help improve the grain refinement, strength, and other mechanical properties of stainless steel. Some ytterbium alloys have rarely been used in dentistry.
